Madonnatron released a insidious new single last month on Trashmouth Records entitled ‘Mermaids’, today we unveil the video premiere. Made by Ravenous productions, this homespun horror features bathroom scenes and close up band shots that add to this stripped down (literally) portrait of a sinister nightmare put to song. It vividly depicts Madonnatron’s distinctive allure made up of four female imaginations their sound sits uneasily somewhere between post-punk and gothic pop, ‘Mermaids’ leads you up the garden path to your demise, riven with sinuous guitars, clattering drums, crushing crescendos and howling intensity.
They say ‘Mermaids’ is a song about ‘secret things. The diary entry that you ripped out and burned while the house was sleeping. The saltier experiences that leave you with a stagger or a swagger although it will remain forever unclear which.’ It came backed by the b-side ‘Ich Liebe Dich’.
