Fever Dream are back with a bold-hearted new track ‘Heads Will Roll’; it’s lifted from their forthcoming new album Squid which was released through Club AC30 on Friday. The London trio’s sound shivering somewhere between early Smashing Pumpkins and the sound of early Ride, ‘Heads Will Roll’ reveals a youthful shot of widescreen gaze and is a quality follow up their brilliant single ‘Serotonin Hit’.
Fever Dream’s sound bucks the lazy, overproduced ’90s pastiche of many of their contemporaries, possessing a rawness of production crafting an impressively expansive palette out of not many parts with enveloping fuzz guitars, muscular rhythm section framing immersive vocals that wear their heart on their sleeve, as they rattle with the longing of an unfulfilling relationship – “Why won’t you live by my side?”
‘Heads Will Roll’ and ‘Ghost’ fall more in line with the material most Club AC30 fans will be familiar with. Fever Dream have built up a wealth of support since their formation including praise from Lauren Laverne at BBC Radio 6 Music. In addition to touring the U.K, the band continues to perform sell-out shows across the capital ) in celebration of the release of their new album ‘Squid’ which was released on Friday.
