The latest single and video from Single By Sunday – titled ‘Say What You Want’ – who are also one of our Sounds fo 2017, is a special release to raise money for Nordoff Robbins, a charity that brings life-changing music therapy to people with a wide range of disabilities. They premiered the track – and the video – at their recent charity gig held in Glasgow’s Hard Rock Cafe.
About the video, guitarist Jonny Eakins had this to say: “We wanted a video that best illustrated individuality and relates to real life situations that people – and a lot of our fans – go through. We also wanted to showthe important work that the Nordoff Robbins charity does. We’ve had lots of positive feedback!”
The video is comprised of on-location scenes of the band performing with the Nordoff Robbins choir, an adorable young lady called Hannah during her music therapy sessions, interacting with their fans, a live peformance, and some shots from the recording studio. It also features photographs by fans. Although the song tackles some serious topics, the video is immensely fun in contrast.
As for the track, it’s upbeat and its lyrics address some important social issues we’re all facing in society right now, directly and indirectly: homophobia, racism, sexism, and bullying. The chorus is infectious and will, as do the vast majority of Single By Sunday tunes, have you tapping your foot and humming the melody in no time!
Nordoff Robbins is a worthy cause, and this isn’t your bog-standard twee charity record; make a donation and make a difference – and grab yourself a brilliant track at the same time. Either buy a CD directly from the band HERE or purchase from iTunes.
