Ferocious four-piece from Stevenage, Bad Breeding, have unexpectedly dropped a new song ‘The More The Merrier’ via their Facebook page. At just under two minutes long, it encapsulates the group’s concise lyrics and focused yet jarring style of punk. The group are known for their fast-paced, anarcho-punk-influenced sound, political views and frequent tours. The announcement also included a release date (7th April) for their second album Divide, despite only releasing their self-titled debut record last Summer to much critical acclaim. It will be their first release through London-based punk label La Vida Es Un Mus, having released their previous material themselves.
Speaking to Loud and Quiet, they explained the political developments of last year greatly inspired the album: “In some ways it’s an attempt to resist the impulse to collapse under the weight of perpetual distortion packaged by certain sections of the British media, but at times we simply found ourselves instinctively lashing out in bewilderment at what was unravelling around us.”
An essay was also uploaded onto the band’s Tumblr page attacking Nigel Farage, the rise of the right-wing, racism and the general state of Britain. Bad Breeding’s debut album was a scorching, dynamic jolt out of your seat which brilliantly tackled politics and pain. It consolidated them as one of British music’s most exciting bands and certainly one of the best and most relevant punk bands. Needless to say, fans are awaiting Divide with much anticipation.
