Further to previous announcements that included British Sea Power, Islet and Georgia Ruth, FOCUS Wales has revealed a fresh crop of amazing names joining the festival in 2017. Among them are Pembrokeshire’s Betsy, whose debut album will be released via Warner Music UK later this year. Also from South West Wales, is Bryde, aka Sarah Howells, a powerful projectionist with a tonal range that’s likely to draw a few comparisons with the likes of Angel Olsen, Mitski and St Vincent.
They join ‘Manchester’s Most Exciting New Band’ Cabbage, the brash and noisy five piece tipped for great things in 2017 and a host of exciting new music acts, including Cardiff’s artist The Gentle Good, Meursault and Lush Purr from Scotland, South Korea’s Love X Stereo and many more.
Legendary Grammy-winner and 6 Music DJ Don Letts – the man who single-handedly turned a whole generation of punks onto reggae – will be taking part in a FOCUS Wales keynote discussion on Thursday 11th May. Later that night, Don will also be performing a DJ set at the Central Station venue.
