Following on from the success of their 2014 EP The Year of Everything & Nothing, Newcastle-based art-rock band Yellow Creatures are set to release their latest collection Spectrum on 27th February. As its title suggests, the band have taken inspiration from a wide range of sources, including the psych-pop of Tame Impala, R&B grooves of Solange and even the work of Radiophonic Workshop legend Delia Derbyshire. The seven tracks on Spectrum are therefore promising to be the band’s most expansive and genre-defying works to date, incorporating both personal and universal themes.
The band have now revealed the video for the EP’s title track, which they say is “a euphoric ode to how modern technology affects our personal relationships.” Directed by the band’s own Marc Bird, the clip juxtaposes the bright colours of the album’s artwork with black and white images of a long train journey. As time passes, the central motif of the flower both blooms and withers, symbolising the passage of time and the way in which our everyday relationships are affected in different ways by the contemporary world.
