After being recently voted at the best film of the 21st Century by a BBC Culture poll, David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive is being given a remastered re-release into UK cinemas from 14th April. Premiering at the Flatpack Film Festival, which takes place in Birmingham between 4th-9th April, the new remaster is a 4K digital transfer which has been supervised by Lynch himself, and is sure to bring out even more of the surreal nature contained within the film.
Starring Naomi Watts, Justin Theroux and Laura Harring, the film begins as a botched hit leads to the chance encounter between brunette amnesiac Rita and blonde would-be Hollywood actress Betty. The neo-noir drama moves through the dark and seedy underbelly of Hollywood, but as is to be expected of Lynch, it’s often a disturbing and mind-bending voyage through the industry. The 4k version of the film is also being released on Blu-ray and DVD from 1st May.
