The video for Architects Of Grace‘s single and title track from their new EP, ‘Outsiders’, is probably the most disturbing thing I’ve seen in some time. But then I’m scared of pretty much everything puppet and mannequin-like. Fortunately, the track itself isn’t disturbing at all.
It’s hard to pin down exactly what it’s all about, and the video seems to have its own ‘other’ story to tell, neither of them matching up perfectly. On the one hand, it could be about humanity and the current state of the world – and where it could be headed. On the other, the protagonist – likely Architects of Grace’s very own Duncan Robert (although in reality, it could be anybody or nobody) – is positioning himself/themselves on the outside, literally or figuratively, and looking inwards. Who knows? Whatever it’s about, it’s a darn awesome sweep of cool indie-rock with a touch of 1980s goth.
‘Outsiders’ EP is released 9th December through Out Of Nowhere.
