Suffolk duo Amethysts released their debut single ‘My Love’ four months ago. The dreamy track combined a gentle folk-inspired acoustic guitar with harmonies between members Simon and Clarice, wrapping it all up in a smooth blanket of ambient pop. The single brought the pair to the attention of the likes of Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson.
They’ve now just released their follow up, ‘Stones.’ Capitalising on the success of ‘My Love,’ the new single sees Simon and Clarice taking a bit of a beefier approach to their brand of pop. It once again mixes harmonies and a distinctive guitar melody, but both are amped up, as is everything else. The almost ambient nature of ‘My Love’ has been transformed into a swooning soundscape of drum machine beats and glistening synth flourishes. It’s just a small taste of what’s promised to be a busy 2017 for the duo. Listen below.
