Welsh alt-pop trio HMS Morris are releasing their first LP Interior Design on 18th November. The Cardiff-based group (made up of Will and Sam Roberts, as well as Heledd Watkins) make off-kilter pop tunes in the vein of Syd Barrett or their fellow countrymen Super Furry Animals with a hint of Stereolab and, having already shared the title track, it’s set to be a typically off-kilter roam into alt-pop and psych realms.
Their new single ‘From The Neck Down’ seems to have a bit of a different tone though, as it kicks off with synths reminiscent of John Carpenter. But the song soon morphs into another alt-psych number from the group. It’s accompanied by a new video directed by Eilir Pierce, where members of the band are dragged around by ropes through increasingly harsh terrain. It’s indeed very different to the kitsch visuals that accompanied ‘Interior Design’ but shows the malleability of the group. Watch below.
