New York City’s hip-hop supergroup Run The Jewels are finally back with new material. The duo, founded in 2013, is made up of Killer Mike and El-P, both long-established and well-respected rappers and producers in their own right. ‘Talk To Me’ is the first song from third album RTJ3 which is yet to have a release date. The song encompasses Run The Jewel’s distinctive sound of grand infectious beats and defiant vocal delivery. The group announced the track on their social media accounts with the tagline “we return from the depths of the badland,” the song’s opening line.
Killer Mike was a huge supporter of Bernie Sanders‘ campaign to be the Democrats’ Presidential candidate and remains very active in the USA’s political scene particularly in regards to race relations. Second record RTJ2 (2014) exposed Run The Jewels to a much bigger audience than their debut and subsequently, RTJ3 has high expectations as fans eagerly await its release.
