When: 21st-23rd October
Where: Various venues, Cardiff
After revealing that the event would be preceded by the world premiere of Be Pure, Be Vigilant, Behave, a new documentary about the Manic Street Preachers, last week, this year’s Sŵn Festival will also be the subject of a new documentary on S4C. The Welsh channel will be going backstage at this year’s tenth event, offering viewers an access-all-areas pass across a two-part documentary to be aired on 10th and 11th December. The two documentaries will feature memoirs, interviews and insight into organising the event, as well as performances by some of the bands.
Co-organiser and Radio 1 presenter Huw Stephens said: “Sŵn Festival has been a huge celebration of music for a decade in Cardiff, showcasing Welsh and touring bands. There’s been so many highlights, and it’s a showcase for Cardiff in a way; the venues and the people are what makes the city so interesting. To have a documentary on Sŵn on S4C is a huge honour.”
Co-organiser and currently Wales Music Foundation chairman John Rostron added: “How we made it to 10 years I really don’t know, but it’s joyous to have got here, and awesome that S4C are documenting our history through the lens of this year’s festival!”
In the days leading up to the festival, 10 exclusive clips will also be released on Twitter and Instagram via the handle @SwnisSound. The clips will range from secret performances and montages to videos from organisers and volunteers.
