Jordan Lee, better known as folk artist Mutual Benefit, released his album Skip a Sinking Stone earlier in the year and one of its highlights, ‘Getting Gone,’ now has a new video. The clip contrasts gritty urban landscapes against natural elements, all framed by the silhouette of Lee in a gorgeously impressionistic manner.
Lee said of the video: “I think of this video as an attempt to visualize some sort of vague nostalgia […] Where you let time do its thing until what’s left of confusing, distant memories is just a tranquil spot where the rays of the sun are shining from between the leaves in the trees.” Meanwhile, director Anna Powell added: “This video reveals people’s thoughts and secrets while maintaining their anonymity […] With Hugh (Sherman Donkin)’s thoughtful and detail-oriented camera work, we were able to depict these stories through a rural narrative.” Watch below.
