17 years since rockers American Football released their self-titled debut album, having only played a small handful of shows and clubs, the band have resurfaced and recently announced that they’ll be releasing their sophomore effort on 21st October via Wichita. The LP, which is also self-titled, follows reunion for a few shows in 2014. The group have previously shared ‘I’ve Been Lost for So Long’ and ‘Give Me the Gun’ and are now sharing one final taste of the record in ‘Desire Gets in the Way.’
While their preciously shared efforts from American Football harked back to the pioneering emo sound that made them cult figures, ‘Desire Gets in the Way’ is a little bit different. Its vocal harmonies are reminiscent of country, and the jangly, niggling guitar riff heard throughout show off a more playful side to the band. Listen below.
Currently, the band are only playing one show in the UK in the future, a date at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on 11th February 2017.
