Since forming in Cardiff in 2009, collaborative Welsh rockers Islet have released two albums and a handful of EPs on their own label Shape Records. The group are known for not defining set roles within the group, instead sharing the responsibilities between each band member. They’re now gearing up to release their new EP, Liquid Half Moon, on 25th November. It’s been self-produced by the band, recorded in John Thomas’ own studio in the hills of Radnorshire, mid-Wales, which he set up with his brother Lee in 2006.
In the run-up to the release, the band have shared the opening track, ‘Cathays Terrors.’ The title is a nod to the student area of the Welsh capital, and presents a pulsating, thrilling art-rock voyage. Jam-packed with ideas, including wobbly synths, an earworm of a guitar riff and floaty vocals, it’s an invigorating insight into what to expect from the new EP. Listen below.
