When you’ve made the mistake of drinking on a school night, you need something simple, easy and gentle to start the day; that’s where Patch & The Giant and their track ‘Flowers’ comes in. It’s as easy-going and delicately beautiful as its title suggests, with pretty little melodies hidden inside. And it just gets better every time you hear it. And those strings are really rather magnificent! The end is a bit on the cacophonous side of things, but by then you’re mostly alert enough, and really, it’s not painful at all.
The video is as simple and easy-going as the song itself, starting in a mundane way – on a train of all things – collecting a small string of followers (presumably the rest of the band) along the way, before they stroll through trees and greenery, and tromp through what appears to be a meadow, and ending by running full-pelt to the sea. But wait, hang on… Suddenly his band of not-so-merry-folk vanish and end up back on the train, as mundane as before. And actually, it’s quite beautiful in its own quiet, slightly odd kind of way.
‘Flowers’ is the perfect track for curling up on the sofa in your pyjamas or your comfiest clothes (think big, soft, and baggy jumper, etc), grab a mug of tea, and just relax.
‘Flowers’ is released 23rd September, taken from their debut album ‘All That We Had, We Stole’ due February 2017.
