On 4th November, Danish rock group Efterklang will be releasing their contemporary opera Leaves – The Colour of Falling via Tambourhinoceros. The original opera featured some of the biggest names in Denmark’s operatic scene and the new release is set to feature numerous songs and pieces of music from the production.
‘The Colour Not of Love’ is the latest track to be taken from the collection, which was written in collaboration with award-winning composer Karsten Fundal and features lyrics written by Danish poet Ursula Andkjaer Olsen. Fundal says: “’The Colour Not off Love’ is about a cult located beneath the ground while the earth might be experiencing its downfall above ground […] It’s about loss – loss of identity, loss of love and loss of life itself. We wanted to create an opera for the mood you’re put in when you on a beautiful autumn day see how a brown leaf falls from a tree in the garden – the beautiful swaying fall signifying that everything will perish.” Listen below.
Efterklang are performing at London’s Barbican on 9th March 2017.
