South London outfit Mantis Opera are an intriguing experimental pop band led by multi-instrumentalist Allister Kellaway, their new track ‘Symbiosis’ crafts an exciting musical collage out of their imaginations. Splicing looping shifts of percussive time signatures similar to those utilised by Battles with samples, rippling keyboard lines and clattering drums. Adding luxurious split harmonies that bounce off the walls and collapse in a heap holding hands, it all reminds one of the works of Animal Collective or Late of the Pier and adds up to a heady cocktail. We are excited to have the video premiere for ‘Symbiosis,‘ a track from their upcoming EP Four Movements which is released on the 26th of August below. It’s a mind-bending multicolored journey through the unconsciousness and toward the dance-floor by way of clever visual trickery.
A few years in the making, under the influence Deerhoof/Radiohead/Battles are all thrown in there, young and driven Mantis Opera are creating quite a buzz in the underground scenes of London and Brighton at the moment.
