Kendal alt-poppers Wild Beasts are due to release their fifth album Boy King on 5th August via Domino. They had already shared the creeping, slow-burning lead single ‘Get My Bang’ and following in its footsteps is ‘Big Cat.’ Built on a foundation of both twinkling and droning synths, Hayden Thorpe gives a somewhat restrained performance meditating on the nature of power and dominance.
Directed by Pablo Maestres, the video has a similarly grimy feel to the clip for ‘Get My Bang.’ The band take a surreal road trip and see talking posters and billboards and encounter flaming car seats. Eventually, Thorpe ends up in a Mexican standoff with a snarling wolf in an attempt to save a young woman trapped in her car. Watch below.
Wild Beasts are heading out on an extensive UK tour this Autumn and are playing numerous festival dates across the summer. More details can be found on their official website.
