This month’s DICE Girls Music Day, help at Sonos Studio in London on 23rd July, aims to inspire more young women to get involved with different areas of the music industry. The day will feature talks, Q&A sessions and tutorials covering PR, A&R, how to play different instruments and much more.
Singer-songwriters Laura Marling and Lucy Rose are both set to speak, as is sometime Metronomy drummer Anna Prior. Virgin EMI Marketing Manager Helen Kennedy, Method Music’s Head of A&R Jamila Scott, founder of Tote PR Naomi Williams and live production co-ordinator at Everybody’s Management Laura Taylor are also set to talk on the day.
DICE’s Head of Music Jen Long said: “We ran the first Girls Music Day in March and it was such an enthralling and rewarding experience, I can’t wait to do it all again. There aren’t enough women headlining festivals, running record labels, or working mixing desks, and complaining on social media won’t fix that. Instead we need positive action, and it’s a testament to our industry that so many brilliant women have offered up their time to help inspire the next generation.”
Tickets are free to all young women aged between 14-24 via a ballot on DICE.
