New artists are often clouded by an air of mystery, but Danish artist GOSS is more shrouded than most. His Facebook page doesn’t stretch before 29th June 2016 and his SoundCloud only has one song and very scant info. However, one thing we do know about the Dane is that he’s previously worked with fellow Scandinavian MØ and the parallels between the pair can be heard on his debut single ‘I Want To Know?????’
Aside from possibly breaking the record for the most question marks in a single song title, ‘I Want To Know?????’ is an undulating R&B-light tune that twists and turns between various genres. His unembellished vocals float beautifully over the percussion, which often writhes and mutates instead of keeping a simple, steady beat. There’s even the type of Eastern influence that’s punctuated most of Major Lazer’s tunes from the past year, coming in the shape of a brash but somehow melancholic synth. ‘I Want To Know?????’ isn’t just an impressive debut single, it’s a potential summer anthem.
