Alternative American singer-songwriter Devendra Banhart will be following up his 2013 album Mala with a new LP this Autumn. The new record, Ape in Pink Marble, is due to be released on 23rd September. The record was completed with collaborations from Noah Georgeson and Josiah Steinbrick, who also worked on Mala.
Coinciding with the announcement, Banhart has shared the first track from the record. ‘Middle Names’ is a dreamy affair that details a fleeting relationship. Characterised by acoustic guitar and what sounds like rain falling from a gutter, it’s a particularly tender affair. Listen below.
Banhart will be playing at this year’s End of the Road Festival between 2nd-4th September, alongside the likes of Joanna Newsom, The Shins and Animal Collective.
