GRIP TIGHT is the electronic project of English producer Benjamin Gregory. The project emerged during the first days of 2015 in an apartment by a canal in Berlin’s Neukölln district, Gregory’s home for almost two years.
‘Never Enough’ is the first teaser of their mini-album of the same name, an expertly assembled atmospheric bricolage of 808 beats, bleeping synth chirrups punctured by Gregory’s soulful vocals that house, both haunted, broken and insidious midnight ruminations about someone you can’t get off your mind: “Tell me that you feel it/Tell me that it’s enough.” It’s the intersection between the craft of mid-period longing Depeche Mode and more recently the minimal pop suss of Real Lies, bathed in a deep appreciation of Italo-Disco and Chicago House.
