Joan Wasser, better known as Joan As Police Woman, has teamed up with fellow Brooklynite and songwriter Benjamin Lazar Davis to produce a brand new album. The collaborative record, Let It Be You, will be released by Reveal Records on 21st October and is the first LP by Wasser since 2014’s The Classic.
The pair met after Lazar travelled to West Africa to study traditional music and Wasser ventured to Ethiopia as part of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express. After meeting, they bonded over a mutual interest in the musical patterns of Central African Republic Pygmies, and the album is said to be loosely inspired by these sounds. They have shared the title track, which is available to listen to through Wasser’s website.
To support the album, the pair will also be heading out on a UK tour in November. Performing with a full band, the duo will showcase tracks from Let It Be You as well as reimagining tracks from Wasser’s previous four albums. Tickets are on sale now and details are below.
