Location: Leicester
Dates: 29th April – 1st May 2016
Ever since Leicester’s De Montfort Hall staged the final Summer Sundae Weekender back in 2010, the baton has been not so much been passed to the Handmade Festival; rather the latter has snatched it impatiently and run off with it, never stopping to look back.
Joining the already announced Californian indie kings We Are Scientists, the rest of the weekend’s festivities will be rounded off by Norfolk alt rockers Deaf Havana (Saturday) and Birmingham’s favourite dream pop purveyors, Swim Deep on the closing Sunday. Other new names include some of this country’s hottest new talent like Oscar (the man who really did study Sculpture at St Martin’s College) and GIITTV’s ‘Sound of 2016’ band Black Honey.
If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, the O2 venue will once again be playing host to all manner of progressive and exciting artists. Frank Turner’s mate Beans On Toast (aka Jay McAllister) will be bringing his warts’n’all brand of folk to the festival; and that’s quite aside from the always triumphantly riotous Los Campesinos! playing on Sunday night.
Handmade festival previously announced their partnership with UPSET magazine, Wichita Records and BBC Introducing who will be involved in stage curation for this year’s event.
Tickets for a full weekend are on sale at £40 from festival website.
