With just 10 days to go we are gearing-up for Visions Festival on Saturday August 8th; this city festival spanning from London Fields to Bethnal Green is one of the most diverse and creative musical events in the festival calendar. Visions takes place in venues as diverse as St John’s at Hackney church, The fashionable Laundry in Warburton Street, to the high profile Oval Space.
This is the third year of this fledgling city festival, which has already completely sold out for the last two years running. The diverse programming reflects a purist approach with solid, inspiring and creative acts, matching the ethos and innovative spirit of the day with one of the most exciting and impressive line-ups of 2015.
If there is one band you need to catch this festival season, it has to be Hinds (FKA Deers), with their raw, organic sounding style of surfgaze; currently finishing off their video to the recently viral track, ‘Chili Town’, catch these Spanish ladies of Madrid just before they embark on their first major U.S tour. Another act not to miss would be Son Lux, expect mellow outer space inter-lounging from this project created by Ryan Lott, that has recently been reinvented with two new band members, Ian Chang on drums and Rafiq Bhatia on guitar, following their recent album release, ‘Bones’, that was out June 23 via Glassnote.
Prepare for some romantic nonchalance from the ironic Swedish indie pop wordsmith Jens Leckman, who will be tweaking our eardrums back to back with the punk altitude of Claw Marks. Not forgetting the ragingly experimental noise antics of Girlband from Dublin; who will be hitting hard on our radar.
Experience the other worldly ethereal glow of Gazelle Twin alongside the exquisite sounds of Holy F**k where they will extract your mind from your head as flawless plasmic vibrations fill the space, with just the use of a toy ray gun and toy synthesizer. A perfect preparation for the scuzzed out political punk freakiness of Ho9909, amongst this huge array of hot acts also including: The Fat White Family and of-course the disco delights of Shamir!
To add to the creativity of the day expect rooftop performances at Netil Studios, as well as designer food and craft beers served at the finest London Fields Brewhouse and the outdoor Space Gallery. As well as an art market, experimental AV installations and to really add to your east London credentials, how about a silk screen printing work shop.
Enough to revive your belief in the arts; Visions is a festival of all of our dreams blended into one, Blade Runner meets Annie Hall meets Midnight Cowboy; expressed in art, music and food. Visions is a festival that projects your dreams into reality. If you love discovering new, expressive, original, exciting and innovative music this is the place to be on Saturday August 8.
