Ontario band The Elwins have gifted us the premiere for their smart new animated video to accompany their track ‘So Down Low’ ,it’s directed by Alan Poon. Set to their soundtrack of perky power pop with enough catchy refrains and guitar hooks, to make it your ear worm for the day! Here’s what they say about the video’s inception:
“The idea for using a post it note animation came from a whole bunch of videos that we really liked and were inspired by. The first one we saw that really amazed us was the Kina Grannis ‘In Your Arms’ video. After seeing what they could do with making an animation out of jellybeans we saw some videos doing similar things using post-it notes. We already liked pixel art a lot and that was the effect the post it notes gave, like an old school video game or something. After that we made a short animation ourselves for a video contest we entered and won. It was a really fun and interesting process and we decided to do a whole music video based around that concept which is when we got the director, Alan Poon, involved to help flush it out.”
It’s lifted from The Elwins new album, Play For Keeps which is out now.
