Greg Holden has come a long way since winning the Lancashire Evening Post’s battle of the bands competition back in 2005. The Aberdeen-born singer has lived in Morecombe, Brighton and London, but it’s since moving to New York in 2009 that his career has really taken off. Since then he’s had his songs featured everywhere from primetime biker drama ‘Sons of Anarchy’ to ‘American Idol’ and scored a no1 single in Holland with ‘The Lost Boy’.
That track was inspired by the plight of a Sudanese refugee, and in a similarly campaigning vibe comes the video for ‘Boys In The Street’, which is released worldwide at 6pm UK time on June 17. The song, delivered in poignant and heartfelt acoustic tones, is about a young man’s struggle to get his father to accept his gay lifestyle.
Greg Holden plays London’s Borderline on July 3.
His third album ‘Chase The Sun’ is out now on Warners.
