Following unveiling Björk as the first headliner last month, La Route Du Rock has more exciting news about its 25th anniversary celebrations. A string of names including Baltimore wizard Dan Deacon, London’s most intense new wave revivalists Savages, current radio favourite Father John Misty and Canadian post punks Viet Cong are heading to St Malo, jewel of Brittany’s “emerald coast”, named after its stretches of beautiful green sea. The walled city of St. Malo’s old town and the nearby villages of Cancale and Dinan offer sea-swimming and world renowned oyster farms that are a year-round attraction in their own right, as is the Fort in which the festival’s main stage is held.
The festival takes place on beach and castle stages, with no two bands overlapping and every act getting a headliner-length set. Known for booking new acts early and often giving emerging artists their first taste of playing on a festival’s main stage, La Route Du Rock is a favourite with both artists and audiences.
