Co-pilgrim front man Mike Gale has given us the premiere for his new video ‘Sweet Marie’ his bittersweet harmonies and brittle lo key strumming: mix Dennis Wilson’s talent for a heart breaking melody with Justin Vernon and My Morning Jacket’s reverberant bliss. ‘Sweet Marie’ is lifted from his understated debut solo album ‘Finger Bone From Swan Wing’ which will be available via Battle Worldwide Recordings on 2nd March 2015.
“Inspired by masters of lo-fi acoustic song-writing Robert Pollard, Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse), Gram Parsons and Elliot Smith, Finger Bone From Swan Wing is modern folk music with cues taken from classic pop, doo-wop and soul as well as shoegaze.
On home recording and the writing process, Mike says – “I need to keep writing and recording all year round – it keeps me sane! I write everyday but I’ve only recently started recording at home by myself. I’ve never been good at the technical side of things but I’m confident enough now to release them. I still have no real idea what I’m doing but I don’t care, it’s pure joy.”
Mike Gale currently lives in Romsey, United Kingdom and has also spent a lot of time in Melbourne, Australia. His previous band, Black Neilson, released several albums to keen critical acclaim. Co-pilgrim‘s most recent album, Plumes, featured on many best-of 2014 lists.”
