On the morning of his sold out EP launch show at The Islington, we bring to you the new music video that accompanies the rather splendid title track to John Joseph Brill’s debut release, Pieces.
A stop-motion study in human failing, the video captures the Liverpool-based songwriter lamenting the sacrifice of moral dignity on the altar of money. Over the faltering stride of the song’s murky rhythm, Brill’s deep, luxurious baritone –slowly unravelling along a continuum that stretches all the way from Leonard Cohen to The National’s Matt Berninger – adds an ever greater resonance to Pieces’ acute sense of helpless resignation.
The Pieces EP was released on 23rd February 2015 through Killing Moon Records.
