So – we’ve been impressed with Son Lux, giving his recent ‘Lanterns’ album 4 stars. It seems we weren’t the only ones grooving away to that album. Lorde did a live cover of his track ‘Easy’ at Laneway Festival in Australia, and one thing has led to another with impressive results.
‘Easy’ grunts and growls like 20’s prohibition jazz slapped in the face with a Roland drum machine. Considering that Lorde has pronounced herself a little tired of that other single she had, this is an entirely worthwhile use of both their time.
The track is released as part of a 4 song EP, each of which is a “re-imagination” of one of the album tracks. Sounds more high-falutin’ than a remix, that’s for sure.
Alternate Worlds is currently available digitally, with a vinyl release date of 5/26/14. All vinyl pre-orders include an instant download of every song. The EP will be released in three distinct vinyl editions, each pressed on 12″, 45rpm (loud-cut) vinyl
