Take three men from Sheffield. Put them together and construct Abe. The trio are now about to release their début, 5-track EP, Heave-Ho. Just like the Steel City itself their sound is both strong and resolute, the primary alloying component of which is synth-powered pop. Lead track Wink Wink firmly embodies this principal element, relocating what was once the towering ambition of the Associates to the present day. It is a portentous slice of electronic popular music that captures foreboding and hope in equal measure. It is a sound of great promise.
