Hip hop is possibly the most popular genre in the World right now, yet it’s never really captivated me as much. Sure, once it metallised it rocks my boat, otherwise it passes me by. There is one notable exception, however, and that is a certain Eminem.
There’s something about his writing, his delivery and his attitude that has always appealed, right from when I heard the ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ the first time. Well, as you are all no doubt aware, the man has now released the sequel, ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’. The concept seems a bit of a sellout but the approach has been well thought out and he delivers yet again. Several references and samples from that original and the engagement of a respectable set of guest singers/producers has resulted in a worthy album. There’s less targeting of his parents this time and little homophobic evidence. His ex does of course get another battering and the attached track sums up that notion and the spirit of the LP.
