The excellent Tom Hingley is releasing a brand new all-acoustic solo album entitled ‘Sand’. Fans can pre-order the album via PledgeMusic, where you can also snap up some limited edition album artwork, lyric sheets and merchandise. Tom was formerly the frontman with Manchester legends The Inspiral Carpets during their glory years between 1989 and 2011, and ‘Sand’ will be his first release since quitting the band.
The LP, Hingley’s third as a solo artist is described by Tom as an album that “touches on the topics of a musical divorce, of first-footing onto the terrain of a solo career with an acoustic guitar in one hand and an electric in the other. ‘Sand’ is a collection of mid-life songs which outline how it feels to realise that there may be less of the road ahead than the road already travelled.”
On the subject of releasing the album via PledgeMusic he said: “The fans that continue to dutifully attend my solo shows and buy my albums have given me faith that people still want to hear my voice, albeit accompanied now not by the electric force of a band, but by an acoustic guitar and, in this case, a string quartet. By committing to invest in this album you’ll be helping me as I develop as an artist and take the next step into the musical unknown.”
As well as funding the recording and release of the album and helping a superb inspirational artist to make a living, a percentage of all money raised will go to the homeless charity Shelter.
