Track of the Day #330: Cut Copy – Let Me Show You

Following 2011’s sprawling, inconsistent Zonoscope album, Cut Copy return to the ravetastic sound of 2008’s incredible In Ghost Colours with this one-off release, recorded especially for the recent Pitchfork Festival in Chicago.

And it’s an absolute banger. Like fellow Aussies Jagwar Ma‘s recent Howlin’ album, Let Me Show You is steeped in early 90s baggy/rave, even going so far as purloining the chorus from 90s ravers K-Klass‘ hit single of the same name. Vocalist Dan Whitford does his best Screamdelica-era Bobby Gillespie impression atop throbbing bass, bubbling electronics and a vintage hands-in-the-air piano break, whilst the optic nerve-shredding video is clearly designed to induce flashbacks in acid house party veterans.

The unlikely but very welcome Australian Madchester revival continues apace!
