JAWS - Milkshake EP

JAWS – Milkshake EP

Hailing from the current ‘buzz town’ Birmingham, despite their tender years JAWS have put together a promising EP. This debut EP entitled ‘Milkshake’ is filled with upbeat guitar-based tracks occasionally featuring a bit of synthesiser. Opening track ‘Breeze’ is very dancey with a lot of variations in the drums. One of JAWS’ first tracks ‘Toucan Surf’ still remains my favourite to this day, the whole track sounds dreamy yet the lyrics are highly realistic and relatable ‘There’s not a lot for me to do when I’m sitting on my own’ . The chorus is also stuck in my head ‘Three words : everything is okay’. The band’s new single ‘Friend Like You’ is very radio-friendly, featuring a simplistic but catchy recurring guitar riff. The EP ends with a ‘bolder’ track ‘Surround You’, which has the most electronic sound compared to the rest of the track-list. After having finished ‘Surround You’, I was left wanting more from JAWS, it is quite a cliffhanger with its fade out ending.

It is worth noting how the entire EP is compiled of JAWS’ previously released singles (both the A- and the B-sides), and so makes it very accessible.
