Taken from the London-based trio’s debut album, If You Leave (out March 18th through 4AD, April 30th in N. America with Glassnote), Daughter’s first proper video ‘Still’ has been premiered on the Daughter YouTube channel, watch it below.
‘Still’ will be available to buy digitally on Tuesday 29th January via iTunes. Those pre-ordering If You Leave through iTunes will receive ‘Still’ as a free download. Elena Tonra’s tremulous affectingly broken vocals piercing the three piece’s trembling instrumental waves.
Taking cues from the song’s themes, the video throws a spotlight on a young couple, whose fragile relationship has grown toxic and broken down irrevocably. ‘Still’ was directed by Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard, whose creative output includes several 4AD Sessions (Gang Gang Dance, Efterklang, Indians, St. Vincent). This is the first time the director duo has collaborated with cinematographer Chloë Thomson, an emerging Oscar-nominated talent (Best Animated Short at 85th Academy Awards).
