Now well into its twentieth year, Seamonsters by The Wedding Present remains arguably the bands finest effort. Recorded in 1991 by Steve Albini, the stripped down, guitar heavy album saw David Gedge’s lyrics of relationships gone sour pitted against a more sparse, noisier musical backdrop than before, with the one word song titles that make up Seamonsters ten tracks reflecting the bitterness of that album.
So here we are at a sold out KOKO show and a sea of middle aged devotees of the church of Gedge fill the floor and balconies of the legendary Camden venue, all eager to relive Seamonsters in it’s entirety including classics like ‘Dalliance’ and ‘Blonde’.
GIITTV photographer Anni Timms was on hand to catch David Gedge and the rest of The Wedding Present bring this, the most bleak of celebrations to London.
