J Mascis long ago mastered the trick of how best to weld blistering pedal-to-the-metal rock with melody and it is something that has served him mighty well over the years. And here on the second single from Dinosaur Jr.’s last album “I Bet On Sky” he isn’t going to bother with any sort of re-invention. No sirree Bob. He just trusts himself to the tried and tested and blasts it right out there for one hundred and sixty three seconds, slipping in a couple of spiralling, squalling guitar solos for good measure. He don’t mess around don’t that J Mascis and for that we should be truly grateful.
