Kent quintet Hildamay are the personification of success through sacrifice, a fact to which their breathtaking debut album ‘Miles Away‘ is glorious testament. “I left a career in teaching to enable me to live in a sweaty, smelly van with my best mates & drive around playing shows,” explains frontman Tim Lawrence; “When handed an opportunity to do something you love doing, you have to take it.
This album is the stirring, heart-wrenching sound of an emotionally and musically honest band who have thrown caution to the wind in pursuit of their dreams, accepting that alongside monumental highs also come the lows inherent to being, literally, miles away from family, friends and the ones they cherish most. You gotta take the rough with the smooth, a classic adage that succinctly sums up Hildamay’s musical contours as much as their outlook.
