The Joy Formidable‘s Ritzy, Rhydian and Matt have been keeping us in suspense. Yes, I know there was Reading and Leeds, and that small warm-up show at the Lexington last month. But they’ve been out of the country all year, keeping details of the new album close to their collective chests even though we all know it’s in the bag. Then Rhydian was posting on facebook only today “Looking forward to sharing more soon”. Which seems to now be developing into something concrete, as tonight we have official confirmation from their label Atlantic of a proper UK tour in October.
Details are still scant, no dates yet, and the month is (a) filling up fast and (b) only a month away, if that makes sense, but at least we know it’s on the way.
To add to the general good humour, there is now a proper version of the triumphant new track ‘Cholla’ online, no more having to rely on BBC R1Listen Again although Huw Stephens is always a delight. Here it is, audio only, then below that, once again for good measure ‘Wolf’s Law’, the much more moody title track for the new album which won’t actually be on the album.
