Alanis Morissette’s bark is probably worse than her bite, although she’s been barking for a good few years now. 1995’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ remains a classic album that we all must own surely. That was the lady’s third album and she has barked her way through several others to get to ‘Havoc And Bright Lights’, her eighth one, out this week. It’s got all the usual lyrical wizardry, albeit less jagged than back then. She can still rock out a tune too, although not sure about the ballads maam – being kind, on these she sounds like the late great Karen Carpenter; on the other hand, you might imagine Celine Dion instead and that would be wholly unacceptable. The good bits outweigh the bad ones by some measure so, all up, a decent set of tunes worth listening in to and you can start with the attached.
