Canada’s Les Jupes have released details of their debut album ‘Modern Myths’, released August 27th. Recorded with Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, Stars, Silver Starling), ‘Modern Myths’ battles light and dark themes, with each track characterised by singer Michael P. Falk’s distinctive baritone. Not just ambitious musically, the album features a track written for Nikita Khruschev (Stalin’s Ukrainian heir and cold-war architect), another for someone wrestling with depression and an eating disorder, another for the city of Chicago and another written for, ironically enough, people who take life too seriously.
A wonderful teaser comes in the shape of album track ‘Myth #7 (Honor)’ with it’s widescreen emotional sweeps it’s available as a free download: http://snd.sc/M0Lvr1
The band have a short tour planned at the end of August/September:
Aug 29 Wilmington Arms, London (EC1)
Aug 30 Bull & Gate, London (NW5)
Sept 2 10 Feet Tall, Cardiff
Sept 5 The 13th Note, Glasgow
