The Flaming Lips are a weird lot aren’t they? They released nine EPs last year including one track that lasted six hours, which didn’t get a lot of radio play! At the end of July, they release a proper album called ‘The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends’ and, as the title suggests, it’s a bundle of songs recorded with other artists. The ensemble includes one of recent times most overrated bands, Bon Iver and, first the first time, playing a song with no tune doesn’t seem to matter. But, don’t worry, that’s not the track I’m winging your way – the attached is an interesting beast, performed along with Jim James of My Morning Jacket, another bunch of under-performers. Elsewhere, you get Nick Cave, Yoko Ono and Ke$ha to name three and the whole thing is worth checking out.
