Mike Bird and Dave Pen decided to form a band a few years ago and, lacking in imagination, they called it BirdPen, which is somewhat better than MikeDave I guess. Whatever. They have just released their second album, which is called ‘Global Lows’ and it’s rather good. It’s indie for sure and a little understated in places but the attached track is really quite magnificent. I make no apologies for the fact it is over seven minutes long and I know that means some of you won’t even try to listen. It is a song of two halves, picking up the pace around the 3:30 mark, but please don’t fast forward to then, or you will miss its full glory. Those of you prepared to invest seven minutes of your life will be rewarded accordingly.
