There’s loads of so-called surf music around these days, most of it rather dull (I’ve already noted my views on The Drums). The originators were The Beach Boys of course and so there’s generally a sixties leaning to all the new sounds. Today’s band are called Allah-Las and come from LA in the heart of surfing California. They have just released an EP ‘Tell Me’ and the titlish track ‘Tell Me What’s On Your Mind’ is neatly attached. They don’t break any more boundaries than the rest of the new breed but they do do it rather well.
