‘Every Little Thing’ from Caan (formerly of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool) grabs your attention in an instant with its pulsing beats and simple melodies. It’s essentially very good pop music. The vocals are crystal clear but they sound forced and entirely from the throat and giving them a painful edge, especially when reaching for the higher notes. They sound out of his range and they’re a fraction off-key in places. Speed it up a little and this would sound incredible in the clubs…
And as if by magic, along comes the Stockholm Radio Edit of ‘Every Little Thing’… This is more like it. This mix packs are far harder punch without trying to. The melodies really sparkle and the faults in the vocals aren’t so prominent this time around; a much bigger, better and brighter effort than before. As for the previous, a cracking first effort but with a little work it could be something very special indeed.
