Were I writing for a publication whose mantra centred mainstream vogue, I’d have jumped at the opportunity to use ‘Free Trapped Tigers’ as my angle here. Fortunately I don’t. Anyway, even if I were a type-monkey for a trendy rag, it’d be unlikely I’d be writing about a band of this calibre unless, say, they’d released a flawless crossover LP and a video with Matt Berry innit. Oh.
Still, long before the days when these Tigers had the New Musical Express frothing their ink, you’d have to be quick on the draw to get hold of their material. This was largely due to it being released across three limited-run EPs, once yearly, between 2008-2010. Plus each track was a number, ascending in order. Fancy that.
Naturally, these releases sold out faster than Steve Coogan at the sight of an out-of-court settlement, and physical copies where thereby banished to extortion via ebay. Until now. Joyfully, long-serving label Blood & Biscuits have compiled the three EPs into a neat, erm, compilation, with some rather hot artwork to boot.
But before your mind wanders toward the ‘We’re in a recession right, so how can anyone expect me to pay for music? I know my rights, and my torrent tracker… Who’s with me?‘ territory, the aimiable B&B guys have made three tracks available, to you, for free.
