From the Isle of Sheppey, nestled in the Thames estuary just off Kent’s eastern coastline, come Story Books; a young six-piece with a distinctive and evocative sound.
Their first demo “Peregrine” acted as both a portent and preface, being immediately picked up indie luminaries BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Xfm’s John Kennedy. It’s an addictive earworm; a melancholic dawn-time ballad that’s lifted by the delicate vocals of band mainstay Kristofer Harris.
From promising beginnings, Story Books are gathering momentum. “All These Arrows” is their first single proper, an invigorating gallop of a song and a vivid display of the craft and attention to detail that’s made Harris a sought-after producer in his own right, as well as a touring musician with Laura Marling and Smoke Fairies.
To celebrate it’s release, Story Books will perform at Hoxton Hall on the 8th of March. It’s a suitably widescreen venue to glimpse a band for whom the big stage beckons.
